US Supreme Court to hear arguments over Biden FDA's ban on flavored vapes
Joe Biden isn't going to be in power for much longer, so each decision he and his administration make could end up being one of the last things he ever does as our president.
The Biden administration's latest move?
The FDA has implemented a ban on flavored vaping products.
Despite multiple wars happening across the globe and everyone looking to America for help with both of them, an economic squeeze on the middle and lower class, and one of the most important transitions of power in American history happening right now, Biden and his team are focused on banning flavored vapes.
Stephen Wermiel, a law professor at American University, explained the FDA's decision:
The FDA has said principally that the evidence to support this being good for the public health, and not intended to get more kids hooked, isn’t there. And so the FDA rejected these applications.
Since 2009, the FDA has been responsible for approving all tobacco products in America.
According to CBS, "The FDA has to consider both the 'likelihood that existing users of tobacco products will stop using such products' and the 'likelihood that those who do not use tobacco products will start using such products.'"
As a result of these considerations, Biden's FDA took aim at flavored vapes based on "the risks they posed."
Now, the U.S. Supreme Court is stepping in to evaluate whether this was the right decision, or if the Biden officials were overstepping their bounds.
What do you think the Supreme Court should ultimately decide?
