Stephen Colbert slammed over Kate Middleton comments

 March 27, 2024

Comedian Stephen Colbert has dug himself quite the hole, and he doesn't seem to know how to get out of it.

Recently, Colbert made jokes at the expense of cancer-stricken Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William.

People were not happy.

So, during one of his show's episodes, Colbert addressed the topic of Kate's cancer diagnosis.

And DIDN'T APOLOGIZE.

While Colbert did acknowledge that his jokes may have upset some people, he just wouldn't come out and say he's sorry.

Instead, he made it clear that he was sending the princess well-wishes.

"You know, folks, I don't know if you have noticed, but we do a lot of shows and I tell a lot of jokes, and I tell jokes about a lot of different things, mostly what everybody's talking about," Colbert said. "And for the last six weeks to two months, everybody has been talking about the mystery of Kate Middleton's disappearance from the public life."

Instead of apologizing, he said that "There is a standard that I try to hold myself to. And that is, I do not make light of somebody else's tragedy."
