Speaker Mike Johnson Defends His Faith: 'Pick Up A Bible'

 October 28, 2023

Newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, is making one thing clear from the start.

He believes what he believes, and that's NOT going to change.

Johnson is very firm in his faith. In order to come to an agreement with him, you're way more likely to "pick up a Bible" and start to agree with him than you ever are to get him to shift away from his views.

"I am a rule-of-law guy," Johnson said recently on Fox News. "I made a career defending the rule of law. I respect the rule of law. When the Supreme Court issued the Obergefell opinion, that became the law of the land."

The Obergefell Supreme Court opinion essentially legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.

Johnson is obligated to abide by the rule of law, but he fills in ALL the gaps with Christianity. He explained:

Someone asked me today in the media, they said, 'It’s curious; people are curious. What does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun?' I said, 'Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it — that’s my worldview.' That’s what I believe, and so I make no apologies for it.
