Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello finalize divorce, end 7-year marriage

Modern Family star Sofía Vergara is single again after finalizing her divorce from Joe Manganiello and ending their seven- year marriage.

Manganiello asked the court to terminate spousal support for both parties, and attorney fees will be ordered as set forth in the proposed judgment, per documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The pair married in 2015 in a Palm Beach, Florida ceremony, and by all accounts, were a happy and functioning couple.

However, that was not the case, as the couple apparently had "irreconcilable differences" when it came to having children. The couple's divorce is amicable and cooperative as, according to a statement from the couple, they "love and care for one another very much."

Vergara dished on the reason for the split, saying, "My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore."

This sad situation is a reminder to couples that it is best to be on the same page about critical issues like children to have the best chance to avoid heartbreak and have a long-lasting marriage.
