Shootings no better under Johnson's leadership in Chicago

Less than three weeks after Brandon Johnson became mayor of Chicago, 42 people were shot, and at least five died between Friday and Sunday morning in the Democrat-run city.

The first two fatal shootings happened in the wee hours of Saturday, at 2 a.m. and just after 4 a.m. when two men were shot multiple times in different locations.

The second man was inside an apartment when the shooting happened and was taken to the hospital where he died.

While most of the fatalities were men in their 20s and 30s, a 70-year-old man was shot and killed just before noon at the same location where a 24-year-old was also shot at the same time. The younger man survived, but the older one did not.

The final fatal shooting took place during a gathering to honor another man who had previously been shot to death. At that gathering, seven people in total were shot, and one of them died of his wounds.

So far in 2023, 238 people have been killed in the city.
