Sheriffs In 80 Illinois Counties Will Not Enforce 'Assault Weapons' Ban

January 18, 2023

Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois signed into law on Jan. 17 an "assault weapons" ban in his state.

Pritzker barely understands what an "assault weapon" is, but the bill requires residents of Illinois to register their already-owned firearms with the Illinois State Police.

"The new law also requires existing owners of semi-automatic rifles to register their ownership, ensuring that law enforcement knows the location of these weapons of war and who to hold accountable if they fall into the wrong hands," according to Breitbart.

At least 80 sheriffs across the state loudly and immediately told their voters that they were NOT going to enforce the ban.

Edwards County Sheriff Darby Boewe was one of them, and he said:

Part of my duties that I accepted upon being sworn into office was to protect the rights provided to all of us, in the Constitution. One of those rights enumerated is the right of the people to KEEP and BEAR ARMS provided under the 2nd Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms for defense of life, liberty and property is regarded as an inalienable right by the people.

The Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported 79 other sheriffs soon joined Boewe in his position.

That leaves just 22 out of 102 counties in Illinois that will be complying.

Nice try, governor.
