Shakira Charged With Tax Evasion For 2nd Time, Owes $7,100,000 In Taxes

 September 27, 2023

Hips don't lie, but at least one singer from Colombia does.

Shakira has apparently been failing to pay her taxes, and she's facing a mountain of legal problems because of it.

For a second time, the international superstar who once was responsible for the theme song of the World Cup has been hit with tax evasion charges.

Prosecutors have charged the pop star with failing to pay over $7,000,000 in taxes based on her reported income in 2018.

Shakira was apparently using an offshore company to avoid paying the taxes.

Reportedly, the pop star's representatives were contacted by Fox News for comment on this situation but did not respond.

Even though Fox News didn't get a statement this time, they did the last time Shakira was hit with charges of tax evasion:

"Shakira has always cooperated and abided by the law, demonstrating impeccable conduct as an individual and a taxpayer, and faithfully following the counsel of PriceWaterhouse Coopers, a prestigious and globally recognized tax firm," they said.

Apparently not.
