Sen. Katie Britt Expects Laken Riley Act to Pass with Democrats' support

 January 13, 2025

Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) confirmed during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union that she expects the Laken Riley Act, a bill to address criminal illegal aliens, will pass the Senate with support from Democrats.

The act is named after Georgia nursing student Laken Riley who was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant who was allowed into the United States by Biden administration policies.

In response to this horrific tragedy, GOP lawmakers and President-elect Donald Trump have been pushing the Laken Riley Act in order to address the negligence of the Biden administration in tolerating violent illegal aliens.

During the interview with CNN, Britt stated, "This is a targeted piece of legislation that goes directly to the heart of the tragedy that occurred with Laken Riley. As you well know, Friday would have been her 23rd birthday. She should still be with us if this piece of legislation had been enacted, she would. So Americans are ready for common sense solutions, and they’re ready for us to stop talking and actually yield results."

Thankfully, it appears that the GOP majority in the Senate will prevail with assistance from some Democrat senators who have rightly recognized that opposing the Laken Riley Act is political suicide.

Britt expected the act to pass with 60% of senators supporting it, and the bill will be signed into law by President-elect Donald Trump when he is inaugurated on Jan. 20.
