Senator Amy Klobuchar requests prayers for first responders killed in Burnsville ambush

 February 19, 2024

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) called on Americans to pray for the families of the first responders who were killed in the horrific Burnsville shootout on Sunday morning.

The tragedy happened when police responded to a domestic call, leading to several police officers being shot; two officers and one firefighter-paramedic died, and the shooter was also killed in the firefight.

Police responded early Sunday morning to a report of an armed man barricading himself in his home with his family in what police believed was a hostage situation.

When all was said and done, Officer Paul Elmstrand, Officer Matthew Ruge, and firefighter-paramedic Adam Finseth lost their lives. Police Sgt. Adam Medlicott was also hit but survived his injuries.

Senator Klobuchar took to X to say, "Learned from police this morning that three officers have been shot in Burnsville. They were doing their jobs. They were protecting our community. John and I are praying for them and their families and the Burnsville P.D. this morning."

This horrible situation has rocked the tight knit first responder community and serves as a somber reminder that America's police officers and firefighters make great sacrifices to keep America safe.
