Sen. Mike Braun endorses Trump for 2024

September 20, 2023

Even as he faces multiple indictments and constant legal and media attacks, former President Donald Trump continues to dominate as the clear frontrunner for the GOP nomination.

According to Breitbart, his momentum received another high-profile injection with an endorsement from Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN), a longtime Trump ally.

Braun's endorsement gives Trump an impressive 11 Republican senatorial endorsements since the announcement of his 2024 presidential campaign.

"Donald Trump is a businessman and outsider. Together, we took on the Washington swamp with a historic victory in the 2018 Indiana Senate race. We installed constitutional conservatives on the Supreme Court who have protected the unborn and our Second Amendment rights, and we disrupted the cozy, self-serving Washington elites who are bankrupting our country," Braun said, according to Fox News’s Houston Keene.

The senator added, "Donald Trump is the candidate capable of returning us to the America First policies that delivered unmatched prosperity and security for the American people. I give Donald Trump my endorsement for President of the United States."

Breitbart noted:

Braun joins ten of his Senate colleagues, four Republican governors, and dozens of GOP members of Congress who have come out in support of Trump, as FiveThirtyEight notes.

For his part, Braun is currently seeking the governor's seat in Indiana. And because he'll vacate his Senate seat, Indiana Rep. Jim Banks is vying for it, and he received high praise from Braun as the right person to take his spot in the upper chamber.

"@Jim_Banks is a proven conservative leader who has a strong track record of fighting for Hoosier values as a former member of the Indiana Statehouse, a veteran of Afghanistan, and a member of the US House," Braun wrote on social media.

He added, "I am confident Jim will continue to put America First and fight for conservative values in the US Senate. I give Jim Banks my full and complete endorsement for the United States Senate because he knows America is worth fighting for."

Trump continues to dominate state and national polling for the GOP nomination and has recently tied or bested President Joe Biden in hypothetical 2024 matchups.

Many believe that the indictments against Trump were meant to hamstring his chances in 2024.

So far, that is definitely not the case, and if it was the original intention, it's most certainly not working. Trump has raised mountains of campaign cash from his legal woes, and has only boosted his polling numbers.
