Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) announced on Thursday that his wife Bobbi had died of glioblastoma brain cancer at age 70.

“After a courageous battle with cancer, Bobbi is now at peace and at home with the Lord. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Bobbi was a leader, fierce advocate for Wyoming, and friend to everyone she met. We miss her dearly," Barrasso said in a statement.

"On behalf of our entire family, we thank everyone for your prayers and continued support as we remember her and grieve together," he added.

The two were married in 2008. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 but recovered and started the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative.

Bobbi Barrasso worked alongside her husband and helped him in a number of ways as he represented the people of Wyoming in the Senate.

Co-worker Rob Wallace said of her, “In Bobbi’s world, a room full of strangers quickly became a room full of friends."
