Sarah Sanders brushes off potential Trump VP call

 January 22, 2024

Now that former President Donald Trump has won Iowa, and all but one of his competitors have dropped out, everyone wants to know who he will select as his running mate.

There are several rumored VP shortlisters, with one of them being Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who once served as his press secretary.

According to the Washington Examiner, when presented with speculation that she's high on the list of potential running mates, Sanders seemed to indicate that she'd rather remain as governor.

"Look, I absolutely love the job I have," Sanders said. "I think it’s one of the best jobs I could ever ask for. And I’m honored to serve as governor, and I hope I get to do it for the next seven years."

Sanders expressed her support for Trump and confidently stated that she believes Trump will emerge with a victory later this year.

The Arkansas Republican said that Trump's "record of success" is what will prevail over Biden's "position of weakness."

The Examiner noted:

The Arkansas governor is one of several candidates that Trump is rumored to be considering for his vice presidential nominee, with others including Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), and Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD).

A quick scroll through social media and it's not difficult to determine that Sanders is near or at the top of the list of desired running mates, according to Trump's supporters.

"Yes...Sarah Sanders would be a great VP," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "That's probably one of the best names I've heard floating around so far, Sara Sanders we be awesome!!!!"

"She’s awesome. He would carry that state anyway, but she’s solid," an X user added.

There were earlier rumors that Nikki Haley was a possible VP pick, but that idea has been shot down by Trump himself, saying recently that Haley isn't "presidential timber."

Only time will tell who Trump ultimately selects as his running mate, and it'll likely blow up the news cycle for weeks to come when it happens.
