Sarah Palin expresses willingness to serve in Trump administration despite prior snubs
President Donald Trump's administration continues to take shape as one nominee after another completes the confirmation process, but that is not to say that every available position has yet been filled.
One noteworthy individual who recently expressed great interest in playing a role in Trump's second term is former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who suggested that serving in the new administration would be an “honor,” as The Hill reports.
Ready and willing to serve
Palin's ambitions came to the forefront during a recent interview on NewsNation, when she spoke to Leland Vittert about potential opportunities on the federal level.
“I thought that there would be a position in Energy in that department, because that's my baby is wanting energy independence for America,” Palin declared.
The onetime vice-presidential hopeful went on, “You know, that's all about security and sovereignty of our nation is to be energy independent.”
Lamenting the lack of an offer to join the administration thus far, Palin added, “But that hasn't happened,” revealing that she believes that “gatekeepers” close to Trump are keeping her at bay, going so far as to prevent her from receiving credentials to attend to Republican National Convention last summer.
“And I'm the only living Republican nominee who had run for VP or president who supported Trump. And even I couldn't get in,” Palin said, declaring that regardless of that particular snub, she would still “love to serve.”
Changing her tone
Palin's appearance on NewsNation was characterized by a rather different tone than the one she exhibited late last year, after it became clear that she was not among those chosen for key Cabinet roles, as the Daily Mail noted at the time.
The former governor vented her frustrations by posting cryptic statements on social media and attaching screenshots of other users who were surprised by her lack of inclusion on the list of Trump Cabinet picks.
Among Palin's clearly piqued posts was one that included a bemused selfie and the thought-provoking caption, “Funny how politics work.”
She also highlighted an online comment that mused, “Palin was Trump before Trump. I have been saying this for years. Sarah Palin is the Mother of MAGA. Back then, she was the face of the tea party, what would then become the MAGA movement.”
The incredulous poster added, “It is so shocking to me how in 2017, and now it looks like in 2024, she will not get a seat at the table that she helped set.”
Hope springs eternal
With that said, it does appear that Palin has not entirely given up hope that she may ultimately make her way to Washington to work as part of the Trump team if the president's initial picks do not perform as expected.
“If things aren't going to be smooth, if his agenda is not going to be ushered in per the vote of the people...the wishes of the people, then I think they will regroup and maybe already change some persons,” Palin suggested, but whether leads to the sort of role she so clearly desires, only time will tell.
