Russian Plane Crashes Near Ukraine

 January 24, 2024

Horror has struck near the Ukrainian border.

More than 60 Ukrainian prisoners of war are believed to have been killed in a Russian military transport plane crash.

The aircraft also carried six crew members and three others who were not named.

The crash happened on Wednesday.

President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, took a call with reporters to let them know that the president would not be commenting at this time.

While the cause of the plane crash has not been confirmed, and Putin has not commented, Russia’s Defense Ministry has already blamed Ukraine for the deaths of those on board.

"The Ukrainian leadership was well aware that, in accordance with established practice, Ukrainian servicemen would be transported by military transport aircraft to the Belgorod airfield today to be exchanged. By committing this terrorist act, the Ukrainian leadership has showed its true face. It disregarded the lives of its own citizens,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Ukraine has not responded at this time.
