Major General Vladimir Zavadsky, deputy commander of Russia's 14th Army Corps, was killed in combat in Ukraine, Alexander Gusev, the governor of Russia's Voronezh region, said on Monday.

Gusev made the announcement on Telegram and did not elaborate.

Most similar deaths have not been confirmed by Russian military officials or the government.

Zadavsky's death had been reported earlier, on Nov. 28, but had not been confirmed.

Other Russian Telegram channels reported that Zadavsky was blown up by a land mine.

He is reportedly the seventh Russian general to be killed in Ukraine, in addition to a large number of other high-ranking officials.
