Rudy Giuliani held in contempt in Georgia election workers case
Well, this probably isn't the way Rudy Giuliani wanted things to go in court.
Giuliani was once known as "America's Mayor."
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
The man who is perhaps the biggest casualty of Donald Trump's has long claimed that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, As a result, Giuliani has seen himself fall from respected political figure to a laughingstock. Even after Trump stopped sounding the election fraud horn, Giuliani kept it going.
It ended with a judge ordering a $146,000,000 defamation judgement against Giuliani to be paid to two former Georgia election workers.
Giuliani has not yet paid, and U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman is not happy about it.
Liman accused Giuliani of intentionally dragging out paperwork and legal processes to stall on his obligation to pay the defamation judgement.
"The only conclusion the court can draw, and the one which it does draw, is that defendant has been attempting to run the clock, thwarting plaintiff’s efforts to get plainly relevant information by stalling," Judge Liman announced from the bench.
According to TheHill.com, "as punishment, Liman said he would draw a 'narrower' adverse inference against the former New York City mayor and prevent Giuliani from offering certain evidence as he attempts to hold on to his Florida condo at trial later this month, but the judge said he would decide the full extent of sanctions later."
Regardless of what happens next to Giuliani, it seems like he's officially lost the title of "America's Mayor."
