RNC asks US Supreme Court to block acceptance of certain PA ballots
The Republican National Committee has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to quickly intervene in a Pennsylvania lawsuit that's getting VERY messy.
According to the Washington Examiner, Republicans are trying to "stop election officials in the battleground state of Pennsylvania from accepting certain provisional ballots."
The GOP is asking that "naked ballots," or ballots that arrived without mandatory inner secrecy envelopes, be thrown out.
It's a tricky situation.
We don't want anyone to think that their vote doesn't count. We also don't want anyone to think that their vote should count if they're not following the rules.
It makes sense that if these "secrecy envelopes" were indeed MANDATORY, then ballots that excluded them didn't technically conform to the proper voting process.
The fear may be that allowing this to slide may also result in liberals wanting to be more lenient about things like voter identification or deceased people remaining on the voter rolls.
As we saw in 2020, we need our elections to be secure.
