Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has failed to negotiate a border security and Ukraine aid bill that his own party will support, and at least one of his fellow Republicans mocked him for it on social media using a cartoon.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) posted a cartoon of McConnell as Charlie Brown losing the football to Sen. Krysten Sinema (I-AZ) as Lucy.

"The sad and very predictable result of the Senate's secret border negotiation . . ." Johnson captioned it.

Johnson and Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rick Scott (R-FL), Roger Marshall (R-KS), and Eric Schmitt (R-MO) took a victory lap over killing the bill on Tuesday.

It may not be too long until the more moderate McConnell faces a leadership challenge that could dethrone him from his longtime position atop his party in the Senate.

McConnell is the same age as Joe Biden, and it seems as though he is also declining mentally, if perhaps more mildly and slowly than the president.
