Republican Nancy Mace says anti-Semite Ilhan Omar shouldn't be removed from House Foreign Affairs Committee

Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) has come out in defense of Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) as Republicans are pushing to boot Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee because of her multiple anti-Semitic comments.

During an interview with Fox News on Friday, Mace said, "There's a First Amendment in this country. We don't have to agree with everything that members say."

Mace continued by saying, "I think we have to be very careful about what we are as a constitutional republic. I am not a fan of Ilhan Omar. She's an anti-Semite. She's a bigot. She's a racist. She's a socialist. But that doesn't mean that we cancel people in this country. Republicans don't stand for cancel culture. And that's essentially what this is."

One has to wonder how Democrats would treat a Republican who made the comments that Omar has made on several different occasions.

However, Mace left herself some breathing room by saying, "So I'm going to read the resolution. We haven't seen it. I'm going to read it before I make that final decision next week. But we've been asking for it, and it hasn't been released to public yet."

Republican Party leadership will likely crack down on Mace and get her in line, but it is concerning that House Speaker McCarthy has been unable to rally the party around removing Omar.
