Republican Jerry Carl believes Joe Biden will not follow through with presidential campaign

 August 13, 2023

Rep. Jerry Carl (R-AL) said during an interview with AL radio FM Talk 106.5 that he doesn't believe "Biden is going to run for president."

Carl and five other Republicans recently endorsed former President Donald Trump's campaign for the GOP presidential nomination. While Carl believes Trump will win the party's nod next year, he believes President Biden won't be the Democrat nominee.

Carl stated, "[I] still don’t think Biden is going to run for president. I truly don’t. It’s going to be a health issue. He’s going to back out, and you’re going to see Newsom step in there. There’s not a doubt in my mind. I’ve said that for the last year and a half. My staff all disagrees with me. I love it when I’m wrong about some things. And I hope I’m wrong about this one because I think Biden is very beatable."

The lawmaker's suspicions are shared by many on both sides of the political aisle. President Biden is in poor health and has been hidden away by White House aides for the past couple of years.

There are few who believe President Biden can serve another four years in office, assuming he even beats Trump in next year's election.

Carl believes the Democrat Party will pull the plug on Biden. The Republican stated, "I think even the Democrat Party is beginning to scratch their head and go, ‘Wait a minute,’ and go, ‘This is just not right,'” Carl continued. “So, we just need to clean some things up and get some younger people involved."
