Rep. Gaetz grills AG Garland on Hunter Biden's art sales

Attorney General Merrick Garland was in the congressional hot seat this week as he sat for a hearing in front of the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee.

According to Breitbart, Garland's testimony wasn't all that helpful, as he refused to answer many of the important questions asked of him regarding the Hunter Biden investigation.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) asked one of the most important questions of the day in asking the AG if Hunter Biden has stopped selling access to his father.

"Hunter Biden associate Devon Archer told us that Hunter sold the appearance of access to then-Vice President Biden," Gaetz said. "Are you confident he has stopped?"

As with most of the questions asked about Hunter Biden, Garland deferred to special counsel David Weiss.

Weiss, given his special counsel status, has allowed the Department of Justice to enjoy extra insulation against such questions.

Gaetz dialed in on one of Hunter Biden's latest ventures -- his artwork. As an unexperienced artist who produces mediocre work, at best, the president's son has been accused of using the art as a way to sell access to his father.

Breitbart noted:

Whether or not Hunter Biden’s art is being used to peddle influence with the White House is relevant because one of the buyers is reportedly a Democrat donor, Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali, whom President Joe Biden appointed to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.

"How can you guarantee that the people buying that aren’t doing so to gain favor with the president?" Gaetz asked the AG.

The job of the Justice Department is to investigate criminal allegations,” Garland replied, providing yet another non-answer to the Florida lawmaker's question.

"Are you investigating this?" Gaetz asked. "Doesn’t it look weird that he’s become this immediate success in the art world as his dad is president of the United States?"

"I’m not going to comment about it," Garland replied.

Garland's hearing comes at the same time Republicans are preparing to launch an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, partly due to his alleged involvement in and knowledge of his son's foreign business dealings.
