Report: Queen Elizabeth Was Furious Prince Harry Claimed He Had Permission To Use Her Nickname

The late Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly very angry with Prince Harry over one particular act regarding his daughter.

According to the Daily Mail, a claim made by a royal aide in a published biography says that the Queen was “as angry as I’ve ever seen her” that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, told the public they received her approval to name their daughter Lilibet, using a pet name the monarch acquired when she was a child.

“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales,” the couple's statement read at the time.

For those who may not know, Lilibet was a treasured nickname for Queen Elizabeth, used only by those who knew her best.

Jonny Dymond, a BBC royal correspondent, tweeted about the incident.

“Palace source tells BBC that the Queen was not asked by Meghan and Harry over the use of her childhood nickname; reports suggested Harry had sought permission from Queen to call newborn ‘Lilibet’; but Palace source says the Queen was ‘never asked,'” said Dymond.

Would you have been upset if you were in Queen Elizabeth II’s shoes at the time?
