Prosecutors ask judge to set trial date for man accused in plot to kill Brett Kavanaugh
After two years of attempting to reach a plea deal for the man who is accused of traveling to Washington, D.C., to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, prosecutors have asked the presiding judge to set a trial date.
Nicholas Roske made his way to Kavanaugh's home with a gun and burglary tools, and he has been behind bars since he was arrested in June 2022 as his defense and the prosecution have grappled over key details.
In a filing on Friday, the prosecution requested that "as of this date, the parties have not been able to agree upon the terms for a pretrial resolution of this case."
While Roske pleaded not guilty to the charges he's facing, law enforcement revealed that he told a 911 operator that he was planning to kill Kavanaugh and then kill himself because he “didn’t think I could get away with it."
Roske's attempt on Kavanaugh's life came as conservative Supreme Court justices were being harassed at their homes by leftist protestors ahead of a decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
Despite the illegality of protesting at a judge's home, President Joe Biden's DOJ looked on and allowed the protestors free reign. Thankfully, Roske was caught, but the nation came perilously close to having a Supreme Court justice assassinated.
