Prosecutors: Alec Baldwin Skipped Gun Safety Training

February 3, 2023

American actor Alec Baldwin is facing a slew of legal problems after being charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Halyna Huggins, a cinematographer on the set of the movie Rust.

Huggins and the film's director Joel Souza were injured on the set of Rust when a live round was discharged from a revolver being used as a prop by Alec Baldwin. Huggins passed away from her injuries, making her the first on-set shooting death since Brandon Lee was killed while filming The Crow in 1993.

Just from the above info alone you can tell that Baldwin is in some hot water.

But now there's new information that is not going to make Alec Baldwin look very good at all.

He accidentally shot and killed Huggins while practicing a cross-draw maneuver.

The cross-draw can be an extremely difficult skill, so there had been an hour training session previously scheduled for the actor.

While Baldwin did manage to show up, to say that he didn't take it seriously at all would be an understatement. The probable cause statement in his case explained:

A training session for at least an hour or more in length was scheduled, but the actual training consisted of only 30 minutes... Baldwin was distracted and talking on his cell phone to his family during training.

GUILTY.
