President Jimmy Carter 'no longer awake' every day

Many Republicans in America don't have a ton of love for former President Jimmy Carter because they disagree so strongly with his political views, but this story might tug at the heartstrings of even the most hardened conservative.

Carter, who up until recent years has been active teaching Sunday School and helping build homes, is "no longer awake" on a daily basis, according to his grandson.

Like him or not, Carter was able to rise to the rank of president of the United States, which makes him one of fewer than 50 men to do that in the history of our country.

Regardless of whether you agree with his contributions to this country, they can't be ignored.

Unfortunately, Carter is now in his last days.

The 99-year-old widower's grandson reports that Carter is no longer awake every day.

Carter's family and America in general are coming to grips with the fact that our oldest living former president may not have long to live.
