Police sergeant goes on rampage, kills wife and two kids just months ahead of retiring

Police conducting a welfare check on Saturday found the aftermath of a horrific murder-suicide that shocked an entire department and community.

Bronxville Police Department Sergeant Watson Morgan, who was 49 and expected to retire in March, murdered his wife and two children, aged 10 and 12, before turning the gun on himself and ending his life.

Police issued a statement saying, "At this phase of the investigation it is believed that Watson killed his wife and two children, prior to killing himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound."

What could have caused this horrific killing is still not known at this point. By all accounts, life was good for the family of four with Watson's impending retirement after years of service as a police officer.

Kenyatta Jones-Ariette, a close friend of the family, posted on Facebook saying, "We all have our individual journeys though we occupy this space we call earth together. You never really know what's going on inside someone's head."

While it has yet to be confirmed, it seems that this horrific event was caused by some kind of mental snap on the part of Watson Morgan. This tragedy should serve as a reminder for Americans to look out for each other and for those suffering urges to harm themselves or others to get help.
