Manhunts in the woods of Florida don't always have a happy ending, but this one does.
Deputies just happened to be "in the right place at the right time" on March 27 while they were searching for a robbery suspect in the woods. While out there, they discovered a missing 75-year-old man with Alzheimer's Diesease.
Fox News is reporting that aerial footage from a sheriff's helicopter showed the chopper crew leading deputies through the woods toward an individual who appeared to be crawling on the ground.
It wasn't their suspect, but they were just as glad that they found them.
The elderly man (who is five years younger than Joe Biden) had been reported missing the day earlier near the University of South Florida.
"What a wonderful example of being in the right place at the right time," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Our deputies were working diligently doing their job to apprehend a suspect and were able to recognize a citizen in need of help. We’re grateful that this was able to end in a safe return for the missing person and his family."
