Pete Hegseth's mother apologized after sending email recently leaked to NYT reporter
Pete Hegseth, currently nominated for the role of defense secretary, has been under siege ever since President-elect Donald Trump named him as the man he wants to lead the Pentagon, but the tide appears to be turning.
Hegseth's own mother reportedly apologized to him immediately after sending an emotional email in 2018 accusing him of mistreating his ex-wife in the midst of their divorce, which came a year after Hegseth was falsely accused of sexual assault.
An email to Hegseth from his mother, Penelope Hegseth was leaked to the New York Times, and in it, she castigated her son about his treatment of his ex-wife Samantha, to whom Hegseth was married from 2010 to 2017.
Penelope Hegseth reportedly followed up that email with another one, saying the prior communication had been sent “in anger, with emotion," apologizing for its tone and content.
In spite of this, the Times opted not to cover that part of the story and instead focus on the initial email, as the outlet is engaged in a campaign to stop Hegseth's confirmation as defense secretary.
The reporter who broke the story, Sharon LaFraniere, reportedly told an anonymous source within the NYT that she would stop Hegseth's confirmation before publishing the story. The NYT quickly denied that LaFraniere was politically biased.
Democrats are desperate to stop Trump's nominees and are doing everything they can to slander and tear down Hegseth because of the threat he presents to the corrupt status quo.
