Pence says he will make a decision in 'weeks and not months' about a 2024 run

Mike Pence knows he will not be on the ticket with former President Donald Trump again in 2024, but he hasn't decided whether he will try to make it on there on his own.

Pence told Fox News he would make his decision about whether to challenge Trump for the GOP nomination in the next "weeks and not months" as Ainsley Earheart pressed him for a decision.

“Well, Ainsley, I will tell you, we continue to get a tremendous amount of encouragement around the country,” Pence said. “I’ll be back in Iowa next week. We’re going to continue to listen, discern, and we’re going to continue to pray about where we might best serve."

Pence was clearly worried about the country's direction under Biden or Trump, but he hasn't been able to break double digits in most polling of current support for presidential candidates.

"Look, I think the country is in a lot of trouble right now, and I think now is the time for all of us that have had the privilege of serving, for me serving as a leader in the Congress, serving as governor here in Indiana, serving as vice president during a consequential, conservative administration for four years. We just want to continue to reflect on what our duty is,” Pence concluded.

Pence would be a strong leader for America, but he's not going to get enough attention against Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and others who tend to suck up all the oxygen in the room. At this point, he might as well not waste his time.
