After touting a long list of accomplishments with former President Donald Trump, his former vice president, Mike Pence, said that Trump was "backing away" from the U.S.'s position as leader of the free world in order to appease Russia.

Sunday on Fox News channel, Pence said, "He’s backing away from America as leader of the free world, talking the language of appeasement in the face of Russian aggression in Eastern Europe and the war raging in Ukraine."

Pence did not detail the language he spoke about or give any other specifics about what he said was his former boss's position on Russia.

He also said that Trump had exactly the same stance as Biden on entitlements, which is not to change them at all even though the programs are running out of money.

Pence is trying to distinguish himself from Trump but has not been able to break away from a pack of candidates all trailing Trump by double digits.

Trump is running 30 to 40 points ahead of his nearest rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump is somewhere behind DeSantis and hasn't gotten out of single digits yet. When Trump even bothers to talk about Pence, he has suggested that Pence is not conservative enough and has "gone to the dark side."
