David DePape, the man who attacked Paul Pelosi, revealed to police that he intended to take former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hostage and interrogate her on what Democrats did to former President Donald Trump.

DePape attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer in October necessitating emergency surgery, as his skull was fractured.

The assailant told a San Francisco Police Department interviewer, "Well, I was basically going to hold her hostage and talk to her. If she told the truth, I'd let her scot-free; if she f---ing lied, I was going to break her kneecaps. I knew beyond a doubt she would f---ing lie."

DePape's attack was disturbing and initially spawned speculation about what really happened that night. The speculation was inflamed when the San Francisco District Attorney's office fought to keep the video footage of the incident hidden from the public.

San Francisco's DA office argued that releasing the footage would spread misinformation which is bizarre, considering releasing the video footage removed any room for speculation or misinformation.

DePape has pled not guilty to charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and elder abuse. He also pled not guilty to federal charges of assaulting an immediate family member of a federal official and attempted kidnapping of a federal officer for the alleged home invasion.
