Pat Sajak Leaving 'Wheel Of Fortune'

Pat Sajak has made the announcement that is sure to send his fans into mourning.

The Wheel of Fortune\ host is officially retiring.

Sajak announced his departure earlier this year, saying that "it's been a wonderful ride," but admitting that the season that began filming on September 12 would be his last.

Pat Sajak has been starring on the show with Vanna White by his side for four decades.

Ryan Seacrest will be taking over as host of the show once Pat Sajak retires.

Pat Sajak has been hosting Wheel of Fortune since all the way back in 1981, when he took over hosting duties from Chuck Woolery.

Susan Stafford was his partner at that time, a pairing that lasted only one season.

By the start of Sajak's second season, the iconic White had joined on as Pat's sidekick.
