Outrage grows as extent, duration of deception over Biden's decline emerges
President Joe Biden's cringeworthy June debate performance against then-candidate Donald Trump revealed to the world just how diminished the faculties of America's commander in chief truly were, but new reporting suggests that the situation was, sadly, nothing new to White House insiders.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the extent of Biden's decline was something staffers went to great lengths to hide from day one of his administration and, according to Maureen Callahan of the Daily Mail, the deception in which everyone from first lady Jill Biden to top White House staffers went to conceal the truth must now be revealed.
WSJ releases bombshell report
The explosive reporting from the WSJ emerged on Thursday, and in it, details were exposed regarding the willingness of Biden insiders to cover for the president's often erratic and unpredictable capacity to carry out the duties of his office.
Biden's frailties were, according to the outlet, problematic from the very start of his tenure in the Oval Office, necessitating a host of techniques and maneuvers designed to keep the truth from the general public.
The charade commenced in January 2021, as soon as Biden took power, with staffers limiting the president's in-person engagements to the extent possible and deliberately limiting the number of press conferences at which he would be available to journalists.
Just months into his term, staffers were reportedly forced to reschedule meetings based on what were described as “good days and bad days” for the president, a situation that sometimes led to the postponement of key deliberations and decision-making sessions.
Cabinet officials reportedly had very limited access to the commander in chief -- if they engaged with him at all -- with some eventually abandoning hopes of any substantive interaction with their boss, whose public appearances were increasingly marked by stumbles, verbal gaffes, and general confusion.
Answers, accountability needed
Now that the situation many have long suspected has essentially been confirmed by the sources who spoke to the WSJ, some in the media are calling for a reckoning to occur, one in which those who have been complicit in the large-scale lie of Biden's competency are held to account.
Pointing out the outrageousness of the scenario under which the nation has lived for nearly four years, Callahan pointed the finger of blame at “the Democratic Party machine and most of the mainstream media – who insisted Joe Biden was not diminished by his age but energized by it....”
Callahan went on to blast the “terrifying” and “infuriating” nature of the betrayal, calling it “an unacceptable abuse of power, a usurpation of the presidency itself by a nameless, faceless cohort.”
Continuing her expression of the anger millions of Americans share, Callahan labeled Biden “a malignant narcissist who put his own thirst for power above party and country,” one who was aided and abetted by a first lady who had a similar need to retain her relevancy and fame.
Calling for a comprehensive probe of how such a sham of a presidency could have persisted for so long, Callahan suggests subpoenas for White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, “and all of Biden's top inner circle, the ones who kept him 'bodied,'” such a Ron Klain, Mike Donilon, and Jennifer O'Malley Dillon.
Buck stops with Jill
Though it seems to Callahan and many others that there is more than enough culpability to go around when it comes to the hoax she says has been so flagrantly perpetrated on the populace since 2021, some might suggest that the ultimate culpability lies with Jill Biden, who should have been her spouse's ultimate protector, not the enabler of his global humiliation.
Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt opined this summer that Mrs. Biden has been “engaging in elder abuse, and she should be held accountable for that,” expressing a belief with which countless of her fellow citizens would agree, but whether the depth of her involvement will ever be exposed, only time will tell.
