Parents of schoolchildren at John Glenn Elementary School in Oklahoma were shocked to learn of the newly-appointed principal's extracurricular activities.

According to the Daily Mail, Dr. Shane Murnan, 52, was forced to resign after his drag queen past came to light.

The outlet noted that Murnan also faced child pornography charges 20 years ago that were later dropped.

Fox News noted:

Dr. Shane Murnan, who performed as a drag queen named "Shantel Mandalay," served as principal of John Glenn Elementary School in Oklahoma City after being hired in June 2023, Fox 25 reported. Shortly after he was hired, the Western Heights School District announced that it was "aware of previous charges that were dismissed more than 20 years ago."

Murnan was initially exposed by the Libs of TikTok social media account. The former principal reportedly used to dress up in drag and read stories to children at a library.

When parents were made aware of his past activities, many were outraged and called on the district to relieve him of his duties.

Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction, Ryan Walters, praised the TikTok account for exposing Murnan and ultimately called on him to step down from his position.

Walters released a statement in the wake of Murnan's exit.

"The drag queen is out at Western Heights. I've demanded it from day one," Walters said in recent social media video posted to his X account. "This is not what parents want for their kids."

He added, "The issues at Western Heights continue. What is going on with their hiring practices?" Walters asked. "It will not be tolerated here in Oklahoma to have drag queens in the classroom."

Social media users reacted to the news, with many praising the outcome.

"Congratulations! That is a great accomplishment. Exposing these predators is the best way to protect children from them. It’s sad that this needs to happen but that’s the reality we’re living in these days. It’s a never ending struggle but it’s worth it. Never stop trying!" one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "He needs to be banned from being even 100 yards from a school."
