Obamas blame bad economy, pandemic for Harris' crushing loss to Trump
Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama spent weeks backing Vice President Kamala Harris on the campaign trail, with many believing their influence could push her over the finish line.
However, that didn't happen, and like many other high-profile Democrats, the Obamas are pointing blame for Harris' stunning and crushing defeat on Tuesday evening.
According to Breitbart, the latest factors blamed for Harris' loss to President-elect Trump include the COVID-19 pandemic and the state of the economy.
Notably, the pandemic happened during the last year of Trump's presidency and was largely mishandled by the Biden-Harris administration, but the Obamas conveniently left that out.
The Obamas released a statement this week after Harris was destroyed by Trump on Tuesday night that was full of excuses as to why they believe she lost.
"America has been through a lot over the last few years -- from a historic pandemic and price hikes resulting from the pandemic, to rapid change and the feeling a lot of folks have that, no matter how hard they work, treading water is the best they can do,” the Obamas wrote.
“Those conditions have created headwinds for democratic incumbents around the world, and last night showed that America is not immune."

They added in the statement, "The good news is that these problems are solvable -- but only if we listen to each other, and only if we abide by the core constitutional principles and democratic norms that made this country great."
One wonders if they would have said the same had Trump lost the election. Probably not.
Many on social media called out the former president and pointed to how he was a part of the divisiveness that tore America apart.
"You initiated the Russia-Collusion narrative against President Trump. You also weaponized the entire DOJ. Everything you did was done with an eye to creating domestic division & strife. We're not going to simply forget that," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "You've called us nazis, racist, etc. for the last 9+ years. Stop pretending like you are about unity."
Other Democrats and liberal media personalities have blamed everything from sexism to racism for Harris' loss. Hopefully, they all learn how to cope with a stronger, more prosperous America under Trump.
