Former Obama campaign official, spouse killed in car crash

Peggy Moore was a well-known former Obama campaign operative.

Both Peggy and her wife, Hope Wood, were killed in a recent traffic accident.

The women were passengers in a Keep pickup truck that collided with a Chrysler sedan in California on May 10.

At least four people died in the incident, including Moore, 60, Wood, 48,  the 60-year-old driver of the Jeep, and the driver of the Chrysler sedan.

Peggy Moore was the only crash victim to be named by the medical examiner, but it didn't take long to realize that Hope Wood had also been killed.

Moore and Wood met while campaigning for Barack Obama back in 2008.

Peggy Moore would have been about age 44 at the time, and Hope Wood was 32.

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaff, for whom Moore also worked, spoke out after news of her death broke:

"You could not walk anywhere with Peggy without it taking two hours," Schaaf said humorously, as she recalled her late friend.
