GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley's South Carolina home was among those that have been swatted in recent weeks when a man called 911 claiming that he shot his girlfriend and threatening to harm himself.

The incident happened on Dec. 30 at Haley's Kiawah Island home in a gated community. She was not at the residence when it happened.

Police swarmed the home and determined that the call had been a hoax.

A number of high-profile politicians on both sides of the political aisle have been targeted in similar incidents in recent months in an attempt to harass or intimidate them.

The Haley incident is being investigated to try to find out who was behind it.

In several recent incidents, a man claiming to be named "Jamal" made the complaint at issue. Police said the voice sounded artificially generated or altered.
