NFL Super Bowl Champion Passes Away At 68

 July 21, 2023

Joe Campbell was a former NFL defensive end who helped the Oakland Raiders win a Super Bowl title during the 1980 season.

The gridiron standout has now passed away.

Campbell also appeared in games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints during his time in the world's most elite football league.

Patrick Campbell, Joe's brother, said that Joe was found dead in Florida.

Campbell had recently been hiking and was presumed to have passed away from a cardiac incident.

"The Raiders Family mourns the passing of Joe Campbell, who played in 13 games over two seasons with the Silver and Black," the Oakland Raiders said. "The thoughts and prayers of the entire Raider Nation are with the Campbell family at this time."

Campbell played in over 60 games in the NFL and had a total of eight career quarterback sacks. He was a member of the team that beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XV.
