NCAA bans transgender athletes from women's sports after Trump executive order does so
The NCAA has changed its policy and banned transgender athletes from competing in women's sports one day after President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled "No Men in Women's Sports" to deal with the issue.
"A student-athlete assigned male at birth may not compete on a women’s team," the policy now reads.
Biological women can still participate in men's sports if they wish to do so under the order, which Trump signed Wednesday.
The NCAA previously allowed biological males to compete in women's sports if they had undergone at least one year of testosterone suppression treatment.
Under that policy, several transgender males easily won sports titles in female sports including swimming and track.
Even with testosterone suppression, biological males have marked advantages when competing against women, making the current ban the only fair way to handle the situation.
