Democrat Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania apparently didn't get the memo that senators usually dress up for press conferences.
Fetterman showed up to a televised Senate press conference last week in basketball shorts and a hoodie.
"The freshman senator wore a white Carhartt hoodie, basketball shorts, and Hoka sneakers when he called on President Joe Biden to invoke the 14th Amendment to raise the nation’s debt limit," reported Breitbart.
Slouchy Fetterman was joined on stage by the well-dressed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), Sen. Peter Welch (D-VT), and Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR).
"The entire GOP debt ceiling negotiation is a sad charade, and that’s exactly what’s wrong with Washington," said Fetterman. "We’re playing with the livelihoods of millions just so the GOP can just turn the screws against hungry Americans."
"Congress has until June 1 to come to an agreement. If not, the Treasury Department has warned, the federal government could default on debts," Breitbart News reported.
Fetterman has previously been named in the New York Times' Most Stylish People in 2022.
Republican Representative Laurn Boebert of Colorado spoke out on Twitter about her irritation over Fetterman's casual attire.
John Fetterman redefined Casual Friday on a Thursday morning.
It’s truly unbecoming for someone to show up like that to any job, let alone a job that only 100 people are elected to do.
There’s just no excuse for it.

A commenter on Twitter said Fetterman is trying to model his fashion choices after Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is known for his crewneck sweaters and combat boots.
He is trying to be like Zelensky
