Pelosi denies breaking promise to McCarthy to back him in event of speakership fight

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) denied reports that she had broken her promise not to vote to remove McCarthy in the event of an effort to oust him.

On Friday, FOX 11 Los Angeles anchor Elex Michaelson asked Pelosi, "Kevin McCarthy says that you essentially broke a promise to him to keep Democrats with him if there was a vote against him. Is that not true?"

Pelosi responded by saying, "Not really. I had no promise to him. Our Democratic members made that decision."

The congresswoman's "not really" seems to indicate that some sort of agreement existed. However, it wasn't strong enough to survive McCarthy actually facing a vote for removal.

Thanks to Pelosi and the Democrat Party, eight House Republicans were able to throw McCarthy out of the speakership delivering on a promise to Americans to hold Republican leadership accountable.

McCarthy was a fool for ever trusting Democrats to back him, and that error is yet another reason why he never should have been House speaker.
