Author: Mitch McConnell backed Jack Smith indictment, wanted Trump to 'pay'
A new book has revealed the depths of Sen. Mitch McConnell's treachery in betraying former President Donald Trump.
McConnell conducted an interview with journalist Michael Tackett in an interview for the upcoming book, The Price of Power, in which the lawmaker revealed his desire to see Trump's political power crushed.
The longtime senator sees himself as the true leader of the Republican Party and has resented Trump from day one because he recognized McConnell as an enemy of the "America First" movement.
However, McConnell has kept his true feelings about Trump under wraps so as to not arouse the wrath of the former president's supporters. However, McConnell's secret has been revealed, as it turns out that he has quietly backed the politically motivated criminal indictments against Trump.
McConnell told Tackett that he wanted to see Trump "pay a price" for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 unrest. This statement shows that McConnell believes Trump incited a riot, which is a categorically false claim that has been debunked for years.
More importantly, this shows that McConnell is more interested in preserving his power than actually challenging Democrats and bringing about change. While he's not up for election, it is long past time for McConnell to be thrown out of power.
