A Missouri teenager who was the unfortunate victim of a vicious beating at the hands of a group of violent thugs in broad daylight is reportedly fighting to stay alive.

According to the New York Post, the 15-year-old teen, identified as Kaylee, was left in critical condition and in a fight for life after being assaulted and having her head smashed into the concrete. The fight took place in St. Louis, MO near a high school.

The Post noted:

The fight involving the teenage girl, whose identity has not been released, broke out around 2:30 p.m. Friday, at an intersection just north of Hazelwood High School, St. Louis County Police spokeswoman Vera Clay told Fox 2 Now.

A GoFundMe page providing updates on Kaylee's condition delivered somber news for those supporting her.

"Kaylee is fighting hard to stay alive and heal but this is only the beginning of a very uphill battle," the update read.

The page added, "We will not know the extent of the brain damage that has occurred until she wakes up but the path to recovery will be extremely hard on the family, not only mentally but financially."

"Her mother and father are staying by her side night and day hoping to bring her back to the Kaylee they know and love. Your support would help with lost wages and piling up medical bills due to intensive care treatment."

As of Thursday evening, amazingly, the GoFundMe fundraiser for Kaylee had racked up $269,000 in donations out of its new goal of $500,000.

Footage of the fight had been uploaded to social media, and it showed Kaylee being beaten by several people. As they smashed her into the ground, they called her profanities repeatedly.

The girl who was primarily involved in assaulting Kaylee straddled her at one point while she was on the ground attempting to push her attacker away. The attacker began smashing her head into the concrete sidewalk until Kaylee became unresponsive.

Police were eventually called to respond to the horrific scene, and a 15-year-old female was arrested and taken away.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey weighed in on the troubling situation, calling for maximum criminal penalties for the attacker.

"The criminal should be charged and tried as an adult. If the victim dies, that offense should rise to a homicide," Bailey wrote on his X account.
