Mike Pence says Donald Trump and Joe Biden are twins on the issue of the national debt

 June 20, 2023

Former Vice President Mike Pence lashed out at his old boss, claiming that Donald Trump's stance on the national debt is "identical" to President Joe Biden's during an interview on Sunday.

Pence sat down with NBC's Meet the Press, who seemed more than eager to hear a Republican bashing Trump and tore into the former president for his supposed unity with Biden when it comes to fiscal responsibility.

Pence stated, "Donald Trump’s position on the national debt is identical to Joe Biden’s. And to me, the Republican Party has to be the party of growth, and fiscal responsibility, and reform. I think we owe it to those kids of mine and yours, to my granddaughters, to square our shoulders and be straight with the American people about the magnitude of this national debt."

The former VP also attacked Biden saying, "Inflation’s gone up 16% in the last two and a half years. It’s crushing the family budgets of millions of Americans, two-thirds of which are living paycheck to paycheck. They’re starting, in my judgment, to understand that, as government wraps up debt, inflation is happening, and it’s crushing."

It's obvious that Pence is trying to claw out a niche in the Republican Party by attacking Trump. The problem is that niche isn't going to win Pence the 2024 Republican nomination.

Americans aren't buying what Pence is selling, as he has failed to even compete with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who many see as the only legitimate competition that Trump has.
