Michelle Obama to skip Trump inauguration
Former first lady Michelle Obama didn't think that Jimmy Carter's funeral was important enough for her to worry about attending, and it doesn't appear to be any different for the swearing-in of President-elect Donald J. Trump.
According to the Obamas' office, "Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration."
While Michelle Obama didn't make it clear exactly why she was going to miss the inauguration, what is clear is that she does NOT like Trump very much at all.
Still, she should probably be attending the event, as she's already given her team quite the public relations nightmare by skipping the funeral of President Jimmy Carter.
In regard to that event, Mrs. Obama's team said that "she has scheduling conflicts," and pointed out that she was "in Hawaii."
"Mrs. Obama sends her thoughts and prayers to the Carter family, and everyone who loved and learned from the remarkable former President," her team added.
There has been much speculation about Joe Biden's status as well, but the 46th president confirmed that he would be there on Trump's big day.
"Of course I am" going the be there, Joe Biden said. "The only president ever to avoid an inauguration is the guy that’s about to be inaugurated."
