Melania Trump is set to serve as the first lady during her husband President-elect Donald Trump's second term, but she also plans to be fully present for their son Barron Trump as he studies and lives in New York City.

“Melania will be the first lady, but only on her terms,” a source close to Mar-A-Lago told the New York Post. “She’ll do the big events. But no ladies’ tea and no -- or very few -- interviews.”

“She views winning as the main show, and the rest she’ll do as she pleases,” the source continued. “She’s really in the driver’s seat as to her duties at the White House."

Back in September, Melania told Fox News that she didn't consider herself an empty-nester even though Barron had graduated from high school.

I don’t feel that way,” she said, adding that she wants Barron to have a "great experience" in college and that his life is different from most kids his age.

She also said she's less nervous about assuming the role of first lady this time around because she's done it before, and she knows what to expect.
