Melania Trump gave a moving tribute to her mother Amalija Knavs during her funeral on Thursday, speaking from the heart about her devotion to her family including grandson Barron and passion for fashion.

"My mother, the epitome of elegance and grace, exemplified the essence of a true woman. Her love for her husband, Viktor, my father; Ines, my sister; and me was boundless. Her nurturing spirit had no limits, creating a legacy that will last for generations. She showered her grandson, Barron, with affection, illuminating his world with love, tender care, and unwavering devotion," Melania said at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida. "She embodied the best mother, wife, grandmother, mother-in-law, a true beacon of love and luxury in our lives."

Knavs died Jan. 9 in a Miami hospital after weeks of hospitalization. She was 78.

Melania was the only one giving a eulogy at the funeral, which was attended by former President Donald Trump and their son Barron.

Trump had to miss a day of his defamation trial to attend the funeral because the judge would not pause the trial for a day so that he could do so.

He mentioned his mother-in-law during his victory speech after the Iowa caucuses on Monday, calling her "special, one of the most special people I've ever known" and "amazing."
