Melania Trump fundraiser raises $1.4M for Log Cabin Republicans
Former First Lady Melania Trump raised $1.4 million this week at her second solo fundraiser for Log Cabin Republicans, an LGBTQ rights-focused group.
"We cannot be thankful enough to @MelaniaTrump for her leadership and support of equality for all. This Republican Party is one for ALL Americans," the group wrote on X about the event.
She held the fundraiser at her and Donald Trump's New York City penthouse, reportedly wearing a red Valentino dress and making remarks to the group about "unity."
Ric Grenell, who served as a close advisor to the former president and is openly gay, said the fundraiser was the first to be held at the Trump residence.
Our goal is to get 50% of the gay vote for Donald Trump," he wrote on X.
The former first lady's public appearances have been limited during the campaign. She skipped her husband's New York trial and was not present for the first presidential debate on June 27.
