Meghan Markle's 'Suits' setting new records after years of being off air

 July 30, 2023

The legal drama series Suits, which is widely seen as the show that put Meghan Markle on the map, is setting records inexplicably after four years of being off-air.

Reporting from Nielsen found that at the end of June, the legal drama was setting records with an astounding three billion streams the week of June 26 to July 2 on Netflix and Peacock.

This number only includes U.S.-based television streaming, meaning that the three billion figure could be even larger.

Suits ran from 2011 to 2019, and Markle left the series in 2017 following her engagement to Prince Harry. Markle would end up leaving acting behind entirely in favor of the royal life, which didn't last long.

The reason for the explosive emergence of Suits after four years post-finale likely comes down to Netflix making the show available in June.

The dramatic revival of the show in the public's consciousness could lead to distributors like Netflix to pick up other shows that have been off the air for years.
