Mayim Bialik is out at 'Jeopardy!'

 December 18, 2023

The Big Bang Theory and Blossom actress Mayim Bialik has been informed by Sony that she will no longer be hosting the syndicated game show Jeopardy!

Bialik has had alternating hosting duties for the show together with Ken Jennings, who holds the longest winning streak (74) for a contestant in the show's history, since August of 2021.

Bialik announced the decision on X saying, "Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy! I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family. For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America's Favorite Quiz Show, thank you."

The actress was originally named the co-host of Jeopardy! alongside former executive producer Mike Richards following the death of longtime host Alex Trebek. However, Richards didn't last long and was quickly replaced by Jennings.

It is speculated, but not confirmed, that Bialik's decision to join in solidarity with striking members of the Writers Guild of America may have been a factor in Sony's decision to let her go.

Now Jennings will be the sole host of the show and hopefully will provide some stability to the show that has been in turmoil ever since Trebek's passing.
